Unique Features
Spend every day of your MN vacation surrounded by the Superior National Forest with its abundant wildlife rugged hiking trails through stands of red and white pine. If you choose to hike the Angleworm Trail keep an eye out for Moose - they frequent the north end of the trail. Another unique hiking experience can be found at the Bass Lake Trail - The trail is historically and ecologically unique, and requires at least 4-6 hours to walk. Ask us about what type of hiking experience is nearby.
This is Canoe Country! The Boundary Waters Canoe Area - explore the same portages and canoe trails that that Voyageurs crossed hundreds of years ago! Pristine lakes and spectacular sunsets are the heart of this phenomenal resource of "Wilderness."
Things To Do
Here, you'll find Big Lake: 1,800 acres of water, 14 islands, and numerous inlets and bays. This northern MN lake is one of the DNR's top-rated walleye lakes and also holds northern pike, smallmouth bass, and perch.
In addition to the fantastic resort activities and Big Lake boating adventures are many Ely, MN activities for the family. The Dorothy Molter Museum - the legendary last resident of the BWCAW. A multi-million dollar International Wolf Center. Track wolves by plane, go on evening howling expeditions. Minnesota's first and deepest underground iron mine - Soudan Underground Mine State Park. Tours take you 2,400 feet DOWN! The North American Bear Center. Educational facility and exhibits.
Things to remember: You'll need to bring your own bath towels.
