It wouldn’t be cabin time in Ely without the Weber gas grill on the deck and a fire-pit surrounded with benches! Plenty of seating options around - deck table, 4 chairs, and lawn chairs. The adjustable cast iron grate is great for grilling food over an open flame while overlooking the lake. Ask us for an Ely Trail Guide and use the time around the camp fire to plan a hiking trip.

Trail’s Edge was the ideal place to vacation in the beautiful, serene North Woods. Sitting on a secluded spot on quiet Garden Lake, it was just a short drive to Ely for groceries, window shopping, dining at a unique restaurant, or enjoying a treat of ice cream or coffee. So many lakes and trails, too - perfect for outdoor enthusiasts! We loved relaxing in the P&Q of the cabin, paddling/fishing on the lake, leaving behind all the busyness of life. We rented the owner’s boat (take your own trolling motor/battery), and I took my kayak. We were pleasantly surprised by the lack of traffic on the lake. Most of the time it was only us and the occasional loon, bald eagle, beaver, or deer on/near the water. We also enjoyed swimming to/lazing on the floating dock (bring your own beach towels and floaties). The cabin was perfect for our family of five. Tucked back down a long gravel road, with the closest neighbor being across the bay, it was exactly the amount of seclusion we wanted. We were very comfortable and pleased with just about everything. It was clean with no signs of mice/insect problems. Our mattresses/bedding were quite comfortable. The water quality was fantastic and accommodated all of us, no running out of hot water, no rust, excellent water pressure. We didn’t get to use the wood burning stove, but there was lots of wood for it (and for the fire pit), and we did take advantage of the AC. Nicole G.
My wife, 2 children (8 and 6) and I spent a wonderful fun filled week at Trail's End. The cabin was very clean and perfectly situated in a private cove of Garden Lake. The cabin has every amenity you could want for an enjoyable lake vacation. There are limitless opportunities to enjoy the surrounding wilderness and the Boundary Waters are accessible by boat or if you want to use the guide services available in Ely. I used the fishing boat each morning and caught many Walleye and Northern Pike the largest of which was caught in the cove by the cabin. We found Ely to be a great place to have dinners after a day of fun and sun as the restaurants were excellent. The owner, John, is obviously a very quality person and he went out of his way to make sure we had everything we may have needed for an unforgettable stay at his fantastic property. Robert R.
Trails End is a wonderful cabin tucked away in a beautiful wooded area on a peaceful lake. Our host, John couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating. Hiking, canoeing, and scenic drives filled our days while sipping wine and reading a good book made for a wonderful evening. The Boathouse Friday Fish Fry was delicious. The perfect getaway :) ! My wife and I stayed at Trails End for two weeks. We could not have picked a better place to relax. Just 15 minutes from town, but very quiet and only saw three boats the whole stay. The cabin is opened just as if you were the owners which make the stay feel like home. If you need anything, John is very helpful. tekwyatt
