Shallow swimming area for little kids, large sandy beaches and a weekly marshmallow roast are the backdrop to your next family vacation in Ely, MN - better known as the gateway to one of America’s last pure outdoor experiences. Come see why so many artists, writers and photographers call Ely home.
The legacy of the family-owned resort is alive and well! White Iron Beach Resort was founded in 1917 and although the resort cabins and main lodge have been updated, the five-lake chain it’s on hasn’t changed at all. The lakes extend into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness so water access is easy and the dense forests (where 155 species of birds breed), islands and rocky shorelines make for a scenic boat ride.
Sleeping arrangements: 1 double bed in bedroom 1. 2 twins and 1 futon/couch in bedroom 2.
Reminder: guests will need to bring their own bath and dish towels.
Lakefront deck plus a screened in porch keeps your eyes on the lake and the warm lake breeze in your face. Overlooking beautiful White Iron Lake never gets old.
Cabin 19 at White Iron Beach Resort was fully remodeled in 2013. The deck has been extended to wrap around the entire lakeside of the cabin so you can watch all the lake and resort activity. Once you see the sauna, game room, volleyball & basketball courts and playground round, you’ll want to participate in all of it.

Extremely clean cabins. Wonderful, very nice owners. Would definitely stay here again. Hopefully sometime in the summer when it is warmer so we can go fishing on the beautiful lake! Roxy Shelly Ward
Beautiful, friendly, clean. Benita Perry
WIBR is absolutely beautiful. We found it this year and have been back a couple of times and have another trip planned for August. We LOVE it here. The cabins are very nice and updated, the beach is the best one we have found, the kids love the playground, and Sandy and Kerry are wonderful people. We can’t wait to make more memories here. Beautiful setting. Very well maintained resort. Charming, clean, comfortable cabins with great views. Hosts are always ready to help. All the amenities you could ask for. The Lodge adds a lot. Seems to attract nice people and friendly dogs. We have found our favorite place in Ely. We will be back as often as we can. Linda Lawrence
The pontoon boat rental was reasonably priced and we were able to catch some nice fish from it. The owners were available throughout our stay and were more than accommodating. I didn't walk the grounds much, but it seemed that most(if not all) the cabins were within 75 yards of the water. I would highly recommended WIBR to anyone looking for a great place to escape near Ely. Jeremy Grev
Always love bringing the family to White Iron Beach Resort! Kerry and Sandy's hospitality is fantastic. This year we brought our dog and she had a blast too! Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle for the city life and just relax. Can't wait to go back next year. Tori Elizabeth
My husband and I absolutely love it here. The people of Ely are so friendly and accommodating. Kerry and Sandy you are absolutely the best people in the world. We have been coming up here for more than 20 years and never had a bad time. Recommend this place to anybody who really wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city from the hustle and bustle of the city. Or a romantic getaway. LaVerne Berger
We had the BEST time. First visit to northern Minnesota for my grandkids and son in law, they loved it all. The last night of our visit we went to the beach and looked a sky full of stars. We loved that the kids could borrow games, shoot pool, and listen to music by the campfire. Cabin was great for our large family, the resort owners were very nice, and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay. Dawn Hebl Manning
Just one week ago, we were relaxing at White Iron Beach Resort, and we definitely miss it already! The resort and the surrounding area are simply gorgeous. The cabin was very well kept, with plenty of space. Sandy and Kerry provided everything we needed for a fun and comfortable stay. This is a wonderful choice for families, large or small, and we felt right at home very quickly. Thank you WIBR! Emily Wheeler

White Iron Beach Resort in northern Minnesota is entering its 102nd year of outstanding personal service. As Ely, MN’s oldest wilderness resort (the original camp was founded in 1917), White Iron Beach Resort is a historic tourist destination with unique access to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and a storied past that includes fur trading, mining for iron ore and the native Ojibwe culture.
We (Kerry and Sandy Davis) bought the property 24 years ago, having enjoyed similar resorts during our own family vacations. Now, we are proud to be a part of the memories created in the beautiful setting at White Iron Beach Resort.
