Cabin 14 — also known as the Red Pine Log Retreat — is a unique, two-bedroom log home with a vaulted ceiling and high, large windows that filter natural light into the main rooms. This cabin has room for up to 12 people and sits on an open, grassy lot with plenty of parking.

This luxury large-group vacation home has an upper story loft with quiet sleeping quarters in addition to the two private bedrooms — one on the main floor and one on the second floor. Sleeping accommodations include one queen bed, one double bed, six twin beds and two futons.

Cabin 14 is pet-friendly and non-smoking with an extra half-bath. It is also conveniently located a short walk from the water’s edge and an easy distance from picnic tables, outdoor grills, boat docks and fire pits. The open-air deck on the front of the cabin is a beautiful place to sunbathe.

Reminder: guests will need to bring their own bath and dish towels.

Unique Features

Cabin 14 is one of the largest rental homes at White Iron Beach Resort. This home is set a little ways apart from the smaller cabins, near the treeline with a spacious, level lawn ideal for outdoor games and with its own stone fire pit ring and a collection of rugged tree stump seats. This cabin can be rented on its own or in conjunction with other cabins to accommodate groups of any size — ideal for wedding parties, reunions, corporate retreats or other events.

Things To Do

Cabin 14 is centrally located to excellent shared amenities at White Iron Beach Resort, including canoes and kayaks for exploring the local lakes and rivers, onsite rentals for pontoons and motor boats, outdoor sport courts for volleyball and basketball, a children’s play area, a sandy beach, boat docks and a game room.

The resort is located near one of the entry points for the remote Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness — a beautiful and untouched natural treasure, and an excellent fishing expedition (think bass, walleye, crappie and northern pike). Ask us about obtaining entry permits through our partnership with the USDA Forest Service.

The neighboring town of Ely is a popular northern Minnesota vacation destination in itself, with a unique collection of restaurants and taverns, entertainments and shopping. Some regional attractions include the Tower-Soudan Underground Mine, The International Wolf Center, and the Superior National Forest.

Reviews

Extremely clean cabins. Wonderful, very nice owners. Would definitely stay here again. Hopefully sometime in the summer when it is warmer so we can go fishing on the beautiful lake! — Roxy S.
Beautiful, friendly, clean. — Benita P.
WIBR is absolutely beautiful. We found it this year and have been back a couple of times and have another trip planned for August. We LOVE it here. The cabins are very nice and updated, the beach is the best one we have found, the kids love the playground, and Sandy and Kerry are wonderful people. We can’t wait to make more memories here. — Kurston D.
Beautiful setting. Very well maintained resort. Charming, clean, comfortable cabins with great views. Hosts are always ready to help. All the amenities you could ask for. The Lodge adds a lot. Seems to attract nice people and friendly dogs. We have found our favorite place in Ely. We will be back as often as we can. — Linda L.
The pontoon boat rental was reasonably priced and we were able to catch some nice fish from it. The owners were available throughout our stay and were more than accommodating. I didn't walk the grounds much, but it seemed that most(if not all) the cabins were within 75 yards of the water. I would highly recommended WIBR to anyone looking for a great place to escape near Ely. — Jeremy G.
Always love bringing the family to White Iron Beach Resort! Kerry and Sandy's hospitality is fantastic. This year we brought our dog and she had a blast too! Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle for the city life and just relax. Can't wait to go back next year. — Tori E.
My husband and I absolutely love it here. The people of Ely are so friendly and accommodating. Kerry and Sandy you are absolutely the best people in the world. We have been coming up here for more than 20 years and never had a bad time. Recommend this place to anybody who really wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city from the hustle and bustle of the city. Or a romantic getaway. — LaVerne B.
We had the BEST time. First visit to northern Minnesota for my grandkids and son in law, they loved it all. The last night of our visit we went to the beach and looked a sky full of stars. We loved that the kids could borrow games, shoot pool, and listen to music by the campfire. Cabin was great for our large family, the resort owners were very nice, and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay. — Dawn H.
Just one week ago, we were relaxing at White Iron Beach Resort, and we definitely miss it already! The resort and the surrounding area are simply gorgeous. The cabin was very well kept, with plenty of space. Sandy and Kerry provided everything we needed for a fun and comfortable stay. This is a wonderful choice for families, large or small, and we felt right at home very quickly. Thank you WIBR! — Emily W.

About the Owner/Manager

White Iron Beach Resort in northern Minnesota is entering its 102nd year of outstanding personal service. As Ely, MN’s oldest wilderness resort (the original camp was founded in 1917), White Iron Beach Resort is a historic tourist destination with unique access to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and a storied past that includes fur trading, mining for iron ore and the native Ojibwe culture. We (Kerry and Sandy Davis) bought the property 24 years ago, having enjoyed similar resorts during our own family vacations. Now, we are proud to be a part of the memories created in the beautiful setting at White Iron Beach Resort.
