Lake front! Stunning views of Lake Edward and easy access to the 200 ft. sand beach. Cabin 11 is one of the closest cabins to the water at the Shing Wako Resort. This 704 square foot vacation rental comes with a full kitchen, CTV, wi-fi, ceiling fans, air conditioning, gas fireplace, picnic table, patio, charcoal grill, private fire ring and stack chairs. Cabin 11 is also right next to the playground, perfect for kids! Don’t forget to bring your bikes!
Between mid-June and mid-August, you can book a “week,” checking in after 9 am on Saturday and checking out the following Friday before 10 am. You can also book a less than week stay; Friday – Monday for 3 nights or Monday – Friday for 4 nights. Either one is the same rate for the same size cabin. From May 1 to mid-June and mid-August to September 30 we have a minimum 2 night stay.
Planning a family reunion and need more cabins? You have to option to rent out 2, 3, and 4 bedroom cabins. We also have reunion cabins to hold even more guests. Just let us know how we can help you plan your reunion!

How the resort got its name: When the resort was built there were many "shingwako"– the Ojibwe word for "many big pine trees".
Each cabin comes with it’s own private fire ring. When you purchase firewood from us, we bring it right down to your fire ring. Spend nights roasting marshmallows under the stars and sharing campfire stories.
The pine trees that surround the resort provide a habitat for a variety of birds. Keep your eyes open. Our guest have spotted a Chipping Sparrow, Great Blue Heron, Mallard, Herring Gull, Cedar Waxwing, Purple Martin, Canada Goose, and many more. Bring your camera!
All guests have full access to paddleboats, kayaks, canoe, and life jackets. At the resort we have a motor boat and 3 pontoon boats available for rent. We know it’s important for our guests to explore the lake, so we offer a variety of options for the water.
At the resort we have two playgrounds, carpetbag, hook & ring, horseshoe pit, volleyball, basketball, volleyball, tether ball, and tons of green space for other yard games.
Winter in Brainerd includes 1,200+ miles of well-groomed snowmobile trails, downhill skiing, tubing, cross-country skiing, and more!

Many thanks for the very relaxing and memorable stay at Shing Wako. From the comforts of cabin 10 to the fun whizzing around Lake Edward to our long hike to the delicious veggies from Borden Farm to the very enjoyable fire pit, we couldn’t have asked for more… oh and I forgot the friendly neighbors who shared their yummy freshly caught & fried sunnies & crappies with us.
