Cabin 9 at the Shing Wako Resort is the perfect cabin for a fun vacation to Minnesota with family and friends. This comfortable cabin invites you to the view of Lake Edward and has so many fun activities to offer. Cabin 9 also includes a private patio, picnic table, 6 stack chairs, charcoal grill and fire pit. Imagine grilling out right outside your cabin on a warm summer night!
Shing Wako Resort is made up of 12 cabins and 6 large reunion lodges. The resort has plenty of space on land as well as the beach for fun summer activities. The resort also includes coin operated laundry machines and free wi-fi Internet in or near your cabin.
Between mid-June and mid-August, you can book a “week,” checking in after 9 am on Saturday and checking out the following Friday before 10 am. You can also book a less than week stay; Friday – Monday for 3 nights or Monday – Friday for 4 nights. Either one is the same rate for the same size cabin. From May 1 to mid-June and mid-August to September 30 we have a minimum 2 night stay.
Sleeping Arrangement: Cabin 9 consists of two queen beds and one full bed; linens included. There is also a pullout sofa bed in the living room
The Shing Wako Resort has a very unique history. Built in 1937, it was a very popular six-cabin resort known for its dancing and tavern. The name “Shing Wako” comes from the Ojibwe word for White Pines. In the 1930’s there were many white pines in our area that the local’s referred to as “Shing Waks”. The beautiful white pines can still be seen today and remind us of the origins of the resort.
Our cabins are also available to rent at any time of the year. The Brainerd Lakes Area has great outdoor activities year-round. During the winter, there are over 1,200 miles of well- groomed snowmobile trails and several locations for downhill or cross-country skiing. Shing Wako is a unique place to visit in the summer and the winter for fun in the sun and snow.
The Shing Wako Resort offers boat and dock rentals on Lake Edward. The 2,000-acre lake is perfect for fishing, jet skiing, tubing and water skiing. Paddleboards, kayaks and canoes are also available for free with your cabin rental. The shallow, sandy waters of Lake Edward are perfect for swimming or relaxing on the shoreline.
Away from the beach, the resort is filled with green space to play and relax. There are 3-4 mile trails surrounding the resort for exploration and walks. There are also volleyball, basketball and tetherball courts for your enjoyment. The lake and pine trees provide a great habitat for a variety of different birds, making for great bird watching. Each cabin also has a private fire pit for summer evenings. Wood is available for purchase and we will deliver it directly to your cabin!
