Things to do during "cabin time" in Side Lake
Rent Side Lake, MN cabins and experience Up North Minnesota. Side Lake, MN may be unincorporated but that doesn’t mean this isn’t the place to visit. Rather, the location makes it the perfect headquarters to spend the day exploring Washington state park or floating the crystal water of Perch Lake, and then head over to Hibbing or Side Lake for supper or live music. If you’re around in August, head to Bear River for the Fair!, an annual event full of local vendors and wares, a softball tournament, delicious food, and live music. These homey Side Lake cabins are hidden away in Northern Minnesota.
If your itching to explore the outdoors, head over to Side Lake or Sturgeon Lake and launch your boat. These lakes as well as 3 others, are connected by the Sturgeon River so you can explore them all. Cast a line or string up the tubes and enjoy endless water. If you are in need of more beach time, load up the group and head to McCarthy State Park, whose half mile stretch of beach and shallow water is ranked one of the most gorgeous in North America. The beach itself is reason enough to go, but the beautiful hiking is a bonus. The rolling terrain is perfect for hiking, mountain biking, or in the winter, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. The 165 mile Taconite trail connects here and is great for horseback riding, biking or hiking. Just east of the park is the Sturgeon River Trail system, with opportunities for parking along local roads. Pick one, or do them all.
For those who have an interest in motorized exploring, this area is your playground. The Taconite Trail is a hub for snowmobilers during the winter. It runs from Ely to Grand Rapids and connects to local snowmobile trails and the various small towns that dot the landscape, making it a great, adventurous way to explore this beautiful, rustic, area. For ATV’s, head 20 minutes south to Chilsom to take on the Chisholm Trail, with hair pin turns and steep hills to conquer.
If you’d rather limit your travels, these cabin rentals have plenty to keep everyone entertained. The highlight of these rentals is the crystal clear waters of the Perch Lake that lap up to a private, shallow, white sand beach. Easily spend the day, or several days swimming or sunning on gently sloping private white-sand beaches or push the property’s fishing boat into the blue waters to catch a variety of fish for a fish fry dinner. Dry off from your swim with yard games such as horseshoes and croquet, or start up the fire pit and roast s’mores over the fire. If you’re worried about everyone having enough room, have no fear. Cabin time here might include a bunk house for 7 more. It’s perfect to make sure everyone has their own space.
Cozy Side Lake rentals have modern amenities that make sure your stay is a comfortable one. Satellite TVs, washer and dryers, full kitchens, and wifi means you’ll never be left wanting.
These vacation spots are perfect for those who can’t get enough of the outdoors, whether it be exploring the state forests or navigating the lakes. Let the Side Lake’s adventure begin.
