One boat and dock space included with our beautiful cottage rental. The Log Cottage is furnished with pots, pans, dishes, silverware and bed linens. This unit has A/C, dishwasher and gas fireplace. Part of an 9 unit lakeside resort; Birch Bay Resort Log Cottage is located on the largely undeveloped Wabana Lake, located on a chain of 4 stunning lakes -- enjoy life in our pristine surroundings of lakes and Chippewa National Forest. Only 15 miles from Grand Rapids. We recommend visiting the historical site at the Forest History Center, plus the Ironworld, and Garland Museums. Wonderful locally owned shops are scattered all over the Grand Rapids area. As with all our units, there is a 3 day minimum. Our weeks run Saturday to Saturday; during prime season reservations may not lap over weeks. Please call with questions.
Our unique resort has been in existence for over 70 years! We preserve the memory of simple times, but have added modern fisherman’s touches like a concrete boat landing, motor rentals, a small country store, gas, oil, ice and other incidentals. Our 2,200 acre lake consists of many large bay and channels leading to Big Trout, Little Trout and Bluewater Lakes. Our location on the south side of the lake puts you close to great fishing.
Walleye, northern, largemouth and smallmouth bass, perch and bluegill. A large lake means lots of recreational opportunity. Grab the skii's! Wade, swim, snorkel or tube. With water clarity up to 16 feet, you’ll love summer-splashing in Itasca County. Take a break from technology! Our rustic rentals have available wi-fi and cable TV, but no telephones in room. Our advice; find a fishing hole, read a book, relax on the dock – enjoy your week at Birch Bay Resort.

Birch Bay Resort has been in existence for over 70 years, and has been owned and operated by the Hemmingson family since 1979. It was passed down to Lorrie & Jeff in 2011, but they have been involved in the daily operations for many, many years.
The resort evokes the memory of a simpler time yet offers modern conveniences such as a concrete boat landing, live wells for each cabin, boat & motor rentals, as well as the sale of gas and oil. If you forget something, chances are our little country store has what you need (ICE!).
