Nestled between Cottage 1 and Cottage 3, Cottage 2 enjoys one of the most open views of Lake Superior. Only about 80 feet of walking paths, natural vegetation and shoreline rocks separate your door from the water’s edge, so you’ll always hear the gentle lapping of waves and see the horizon through the small aspens around the property. The lakeside setting allows you to step outside onto your own patio to watch the sunrise, roast marshmallows around the fire circle or simply breathe in the cool lake air.
Inside, this four‑season cottage blends North Shore charm with modern comfort. The lakeside bedroom features a queen bed, a romantic gas stove and a glass patio door that frames the lake beyond. In the living room, a decorative gas stove and picture window bring the outside in, and the furnishings – a plush futon, wingback chairs and a dinette set – invite you to relax after a day of exploring. The fully equipped kitchen on the roadside of the cottage has everything you need for home‑style meals, and there’s a bathroom with shower and a second bedroom with a full bed.
Large picture windows and a lakeside patio door flood the interior with natural light and make the lake part of your living space. Two gas stoves – one in the lakeside bedroom and another in the living room – add warmth and a romantic touch during cooler evenings. Outside, a private fire circle and patio furniture sit just steps from the shore, creating a perfect gathering spot for storytelling and stargazing. The cottage’s single‑level layout, fully equipped kitchen and comfortable furnishings let you settle in quickly.
As one of only three cabins at Croftville Road Cottages, Cottage 2 offers an uninterrupted panorama of Lake Superior. Only about 80 feet from the rocky shoreline, it has a private fire circle, patio furniture and footpath leading down to the water. Inside, you'll find a romantic gas stove and picture window in the lakeside bedroom, a second bedroom with a full bed, a fully equipped kitchen and a cozy living room with futon and wingback chairs that invite you to settle in year ‑ round.
The small size of our resort creates a peaceful and intimate setting where you can watch the sun rise over the lake, listen to the waves and stargaze at night. Each cottage has its own space, and the natural gardens and shoreline provide a sense of seclusion while still being just a few minutes from Grand Marais. Cottage 2 is part of a family‑owned property where thoughtful touches and personalized hospitality make your North Shore stay memorable.
On the property, stroll along the lakeside path, skip stones on the beach or gather around the firepit under the stars. The rocky shoreline and gentle waves of Lake Superior are steps away, offering endless opportunities for relaxation and photography. When the lake freezes, winter guests enjoy watching ice formations and snowshoeing along the shore.
Just three miles up the road, the harbor town of Grand Marais bursts with character. Browse Minnesota’s oldest art colony, watch wooden boats being built at the North House Folk School, explore galleries and shops along Wisconsin Street, and dine on everything from fresh fish to gourmet cuisine. Take a walk out to Artist’s Point for stunning harbor views or catch live music at a local brewery.
Outdoor enthusiasts will love the area’s trail systems. The Pincushion Mountain trail network offers hiking, mountain biking and cross‑country skiing with sweeping views of Lake Superior and Grand Marais. North of town, Judge C.R. Magney State Park features waterfalls, trout streams and the famed Devil’s Kettle, voted one of the nation’s top hiking trails. When you venture inland on the Gunflint Trail or east toward Lutsen Mountains, you’ll discover limitless opportunities for canoeing, skiing and wildlife watching along the North Shore.

Peaceful haven during a busy, busy summer. Could hear the waves hitting the shore throughout our condo. The view was mesmerizing. The window seat fit both of us while we read and looked out over Lake Superior. We’ll definitely come back. - Sarah
My partner and I had a pleasant summer getaway over our first anniversary here. We enjoyed the many features including the lakeside views, giant whirlpool tub, fireplace and well appointed kitchen. The management were friendly and helpful. - Brian
The property is truly incredible. They’ve thought of every detail. I was blown away with the quality of the home, the views, the amenities, and the location. The window seat is such a cool feature! - Josh
We LOVED this place! It’s beautifully appointed- many details we wouldn’t have expected. It was super warm and cozy- the fireplaces and heating were excellent on a chilly north shore weekend in November. Thank you for the firewood available and all the extra touches. The location is fantastic too- every room has great views. We would love to return soon! - Jennifer
We've stayed in quaint cabins from Moab to Bar Harbor. The accommodations and views are up there with the best of them. Easy access to many parks and Grand Marais. - Matt
