This two story inn suite sits within our stately lakeside inn on Croftville Road. With a private entrance off the covered porch, Inn Suite #4 welcomes guests into a cozy living area with a full kitchen and dining space, a futon for extra sleeping room and a romantic wood burning fireplace. A large window seat overlooks Lake Superior, inviting you to curl up with a book and watch the waves roll in.

Upstairs you'll find the spacious bedroom with a plush queen bed, a decorative gas stove and a clawfoot soaking tub tucked into a dormer alcove with views of the lake. A separate bathroom includes a corner shower, and the landing outside the bedroom provides easy access for guests using the futon. A door off the bedroom leads to a private deck where you can sip morning coffee or enjoy the evening breeze.

Designed for year-round comfort, this suite sleeps up to four people and is perfect for romantic getaways or small families. Our family‑run resort sits about 80 feet from the rocky shore on 540 feet of Lake Superior shoreline, just three miles from downtown Grand Marais along the scenic "walking road." You’ll enjoy clean, meticulously maintained accommodations and spectacular views of Lake Superior in every season.

Unique Features

Inn Suite #4 combines vintage charm and modern comforts. The main‑level living area features a crackling wood fireplace with firewood provided, a comfortable futon, a dining nook and a full kitchen equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator and quality utensils. A cushioned window seat lines the lake‑facing wall, offering an inviting perch to read or simply gaze out at Superior’s ever‑changing moods.

Upstairs, a decorative gas stove and clawfoot tub add a touch of romance, while a private deck off the bedroom lets you step outside to feel the lake breeze. Our property features a network of paths along the 540‑foot shoreline with log swings, picnic tables, fire circles and stairs to the beach. We provide good Wi‑Fi and a smart TV, but many guests prefer to unplug and listen to the waves or watch the sunrise and moonrise over Lake Superior.

Things To Do

Start your day watching the sunrise from your window seat or step down to the shore to see the light dance across Lake Superior. Wander our lakewalk, settle into a log swing with a cup of coffee, enjoy a beachside picnic or toast marshmallows at an evening campfire — we provide the firewood and kindling.

When you’re ready for town, drive or bike three miles into Grand Marais to explore boutique shops, galleries and eateries along the harbor. Visit the North House Folk School or the Grand Marais Art Colony and ask about our 10% lodging discount for students and instructors. The town hosts events like the Fishermen’s Picnic, Moose Madness and winter’s Hygge Festival; there’s always something happening.

Outdoor enthusiasts will find endless adventures. Hike the Pincushion Mountain Trail System for panoramic views of Lake Superior, stroll the easy trail out to Artists’ Point, or venture up the Gunflint Trail to scenic overlooks like Honeymoon Bluff and Magnetic Rock. Cascade River State Park and Superior Hiking Trail segments are nearby, and in winter the Lutsen Mountains ski area is just 23 miles away.

Day trips might include a visit to Grand Portage National Monument and High Falls, a scenic drive along Highway 61 to Thunder Bay or Duluth, or a paddle trip on the Boundary Waters. Whether you seek adventure or relaxation, our location offers the best of Minnesota’s North Shore.

Reviews

Warm and cozy, the suite was lovely with thoughtful touches like a wood-fired fireplace, comfortable bed, futon for the kids, and a fully stocked kitchen; we loved waking to sunrise over Lake Superior and appreciated the friendly hosts. Jennifer December 2024
Accommodations were perfect and views outstanding—hands-down one of the best cottages we've stayed in from Moab to Bar Harbor; Croftville’s lakefront location and hospitality make it our favorite North Shore getaway. Matt June 2024
