The camp cook will love the breakfast counter, stainless steel appliances, refrigerator, oven, stovetop, dishwasher, small appliances, cookware and dinnerware. This retreat is an ideal family getaway. In addition to Bear Island Retreat, we (Ely Lodging, Inc) offer other privately-owned lakeshore home rentals.
Sleeping arrangement: 2 bedrooms on main level with a queen bed in each; 3rd bedroom is the loft with queen bed and sofa bed. Full bath on main floor with full sized jetted tub and shower.
End of the Road Privacy! Screen porch keeps you in the great outdoors and bug free - includes a futon, loveseat and 2 comfy chairs. We’ve had guests sleep out here too. Living room features a wood burning fireplace and leather furniture with large windows overlooking the lake and sandy shoreline. The kitchen opens to dining room and living room.

The retreat and lake offer plenty to do. Every night enjoy a bonfire at the peaceful lakeside fire pit. Private Dock for your boat (watercraft rentals are available) and Public boat ramp is nearby. Get out and explore Bear Island Lake - 2351 acres with lots of islands. Great for fishing too. Your shore lunch could include walleye, largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, pumpkinseed, and pike. Beyond the lake is the famed Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; 1500 miles of canoe routes. Experience a natural state that hasn’t changed much since hunters, trappers, and prospectors from past centuries. Just grab a canoe, a couple of paddles and plan to spend a peaceful day paddling the BWCAW wilderness waters, or hike several scenic hiking trails.
If the weather turns poor, the video library in our retreat will keep everyone entertained and having a good time.
