To inquire or book, call 218-365-4885 and ask for Jack Pine Cabin #18 now!

They say location is everything and Jack Pine Cabin (#18) is all about the expansive views across beautiful White Iron Lake. This cabin is filled with windows to give you the perfect lakeside experience.

On sunny days, there is plenty of seating out on the large wrap-around deck which is nicely shaded by leafy trees and where a quality outdoor gas grill is ready for cookouts with family and friends. Enjoy evenings around the private fire pit located just off the deck with fun log bench seating and, you guessed it, great views of the lake!

Even if the weather keeps you inside for awhile, you will never feel trapped in this elevated and open cabin. Just grab a good book or a board game or turn on the flat screen TV and pop in one of over 100 DVD movies provided as you enjoy watching the weather move across the lake from your cozy perch.

Jack Pine is a clean, affordable, and a smoke free cabin. Inside are hardwood floors and knotty pine ceilings. The extra half bath is a great feature of this two bedroom cabin. During your stay, keep your eyes open for soaring bald eagles, deer, woodpeckers, otters, mink, humming birds and loons.

Sleeping arrangements: First bedroom: one queen bed. Second bedroom: one double bed, two twin beds (one twin is a bunk). A spare full size airbed is also available for the sun porch. The kitchen includes a gas range, full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, cookware and dinnerware.

Unique Features

Jack Pine Cabin sits atop ledge rock tucked among towering old growth evergreens. The elevated view of White Iron Lake is stunning. Open all the large windows in the bright sunroom and listen to the loons and the gentle sounds of the lake while you sip your morning coffee. A sliding glass door leads out to the large, wrap around deck.

Jack Pine Cabin is part of The Retreats on White Iron Lake, a lovely hidden gem of a resort made up of just twelve privately owned cabins. The cabins of this peaceful retreat are scattered from the lakes edge on up a hillside overlooking the water on twelve beautiful lakeside acres.

Guests have access to all the amenities of the neighboring resort. A short stroll along the lake leads to a sandy beach area with lounge chairs and shallow swimming area. A fun children's playground is just steps away from there on your way to the main lodge full of board games, a pool table and yummy ice-cream treats.

Things To Do

Guests have access to complimentary kayaks, canoes and paddle boats. We also have free dock space so bring your own boat or rent a motor boat or pontoon. Experience the Boundary Waters which can be reached right from our dock. There are seven miles of connected lakes and rivers! Excellent fishing, be prepared to reel in some pike, crappie, smallmouth and walleye. After a day of exploring the lake, gather around Jack Pine's private campfire for some hotdogs and s’mores or stroll over to the nightly community lakeside campfire to share stories from your day with others.

Only five minutes from downtown Ely, yet the cabin still feels secluded and private. Downtown has unique shopping and dining. Our location also puts us in the Superior National Forest where there are dozens of marked hiking trails. Being next to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness means there are 1,500+ miles of water and trails. You don’t have to be an expert canoeist to enjoy the BWCAW. Ely also has an array of cuisines that can satisfy you! Check out the great food at the Boathouse Brewpub, RockWood, Insula, Britton's Cafe, Stony Ridge, Grand Ely Lodge, Sir G's Italian and the Ely Steak House, just to name a few!

Some of Ely’s main attractions include the Bois Forte Heritage Center and Cultural Museum, Dorothy Molter Museum, International Wolf Center, Sudan Underground Mine and the North American Bear Center. Overall, Ely has a variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy such as canoeing, fishing, hiking, exploring museums, mountain biking, photography, birding, golfing, festivals and relaxing at the spa.

Reviews

We have been enjoying family vacations in this hidden gem for many years! Retreats sits in a lovely bay with a quaint island offshore favored by bald eagles. While staying at The Retreats on White Iron Lake you will enjoy the tranquility of the north woods while having access to all the amenities of the neighboring White Iron Beach Resort.
The kids love the sandy and shallow beach which is great for swimming. There is also a sauna, canoes, paddle boats and kayaks for your free use. Motor boats and pontoons are also available for rent. There is a nice, family friendly resort lodge that offers games, books, snacks, good company and great advice on fishing or local activities. The resort also has a volleyball court, a large new playground and an area to gather around the campfire next to the lake. -Chad B
Jack Pine is really a cool cabin in one of the most beautiful places you can imagine. It's part of a quiet little resort called Retreats On White Iron Lake that very few people even know exists. There are only about 10 cabins staggered up a hillside overlooking this huge, gorgeous chain of lakes. We love that it's only about a 4 minute drive into the coolest little town in America!
At the end of each day my husband and I usually find ourselves sitting on the deck at Jack Pine with a glass of wine listening to the loons as we watch bald eagles circle the island off shore while the kids play with new friends at the resort next door. Perfect!
