We built our custom North Woods Retreat near Duluth in 40 acres of tranquil woods with private trails. We rent out the lower level unit that has its own private keyless (keypad) entrance, two bedroom areas, one bath, a fully equipped eat-in kitchen, and living room.
The large living room features large windows with great natural lighting and a door up to the shared upper deck with BBQ grill and picnic table. The second bedroom space is part of an open living room floor plan that includes a bunk bed with a twin over a full sized bed. There is also a sleeper sofa and two bonus twin mattresses for the floor. Couches in the living room, an electric fireplace unit, smart TV, and high top dining table create a comfortable space to rest, eat, play. WIFI is available as well as a laptop-friendly workspace.
The eat-in kitchen is stocked with dishes, silverware, cookware, coffee maker, full-sized refrigerator, microwave, stove/range, and table and chairs. Panty stock items include oil, salt, and pepper. The full-sized bathroom has a tub/shower, hair dryer, soap, shampoo, and towels. Venture out into the backyard patio with chairs and shared firepit. Beyond are trail to a pond and berry picking adventures in the summer. Note that all cell phones appear to work on our grounds, but you may need to stand by an outer wall or window for best reception to make phone calls. You must be able to climb stairs and we request that you do not wear shoes once inside.

The Duluth rental is nestled on 40 acres with its own private private trails to hike, ski, or ride ATV’s on all away from the buzz of the city! We welcome you to stay as long as you’d like, as the North Woods Retreat can be rented 28+ days.
Go explore our grounds and walk, ski, or snowshoe through our spectacular wooded 40 acres complete with a pond and blueberry and raspberry picking in the summer! There are no children in the owner’s upstairs unit and we are light footed and rarely there. But we are able to assist you with touring our beautiful area near Duluth! The owner’s upstairs units is also available to rent for larger groups - please contact us for information and rates.
Although the North Woods Retreat is located in a rural setting, you have easy access to Duluth, Lake Superior and Cloquet MN. This lodging in Esko township has dining options within 5 miles to Cloquet MN (and a Walmart store) and 15 miles to Duluth MN (and a Target store). The Kwik Stop gas station, only 2.5 miles away, also has a grocery convenience store. For guests desiring tradition gym options, you can get a pass to use the the Esko High school facility.
Restaurants nearby that are fun to try out are Gordy's High Hat, Family Tradition Restaurant, and Pedro's Mexican. The Jay Cooke State Park in Calton, Mn is just a 14-minute drive away. The Spirit Mountain Recreation area, where you can ski/mountain bike, is just a 17-minute drive away. Take a day trip into Duluth, only a 18-minute drive, and see the historic Duluth Canal Park area with lots of shopping/dining options.

The apartment is nestled in the woods with plenty of area for hiking around in the snow or looking/listening for wildlife. It was the perfect place for us to relax while we were in a nearby hockey tournament. Thanks for the hospitality Tracy! - Pam
