Set in a private, wooded park‑like setting about a quarter mile from the main resort, Westwood Cabin sits along 250 feet of shoreline on Moose Lake. The easterly views from its west shore are beautiful at sunrise, and a spacious deck and vegetable garden create plenty of outdoor living space.
Inside, a large bedroom with a king bed anchors the cabin. Two additional bedrooms—one with a queen bed and another with a double bed—plus three baths give families room to spread out. The open living area features a sleeper sofa, comfortable seating and large windows that bring the forest and lake views inside.
This secluded cabin accommodates up to six guests. A private dock provides space for fishing or swimming, and the outdoor kids’ game room gives children their own place to play. In the evening, relax on the deck for a barbecue under the stars or stroll down to the shore to listen to the loons.
Westwood Cabin offers an unusual combination of privacy and access. Though located only a short distance from the resort lodge and beach, it feels like its own park thanks to the wooded setting and generous 250‑foot shoreline. The garden plot and grassy lawn invite guests to pick fresh vegetables or play games while watching the sun rise over the lake.
Another standout feature is the thoughtful layout. The cabin includes three bedrooms and three full baths, along with a separate outdoor game room where kids can play on rainy days. With a king, queen and double bed plus a sleeper sofa, the cabin accommodates families or couples traveling together. A large deck and private dock ensure there is always a quiet place to relax.
Guests have complimentary use of a rowboat and access to an array of watercraft including kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, sailboats and pontoon boats. Water sports such as wake‑boarding, water skiing and tubing are popular during the summer months, and the clear waters of Moose Lake are ideal for swimming, fishing and birdwatching.
On land, the resort offers miles of hiking and biking trails through the Chippewa National Forest, along with courts and fields for basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, badminton, bocce and croquet. A playground with a little cabin playhouse and sandbox keeps younger children entertained, and the lodge’s game room has a pool table, foosball table, air hockey and board games. There is also an 18‑hole disc golf course, a pickleball court and a three‑hole golf course.
The resort’s lodge provides a comfortable place to gather, play cards or sit by the fireplace, and special events such as concerts and retreats are occasionally hosted on the grounds. In the evening, families enjoy bonfires on the beach, or simply reading and napping while listening to the sounds of nature.
Beyond the resort, scenic drives along the Lady Slipper Scenic Byway lead to nearby towns and attractions. Bemidji offers restaurants, shops and cultural experiences, while Cass Lake and Itasca State Park provide additional boating and hiking opportunities. The fall season brings vibrant colors and cooler temperatures, making it a perfect time for fishing, hiking and photography.

Stennes & Buhn’s Moose Lake Resort has been welcoming guests for generations. The resort first became part of the extended Stennes family in 1946 when Del and Elvera Hall purchased the property. In 1972 Jack Buhn, Paul Stennes and Richard Stennes brought it back into the family, and over the decades they have remodeled, built new cabins and added a welcoming lodge. Today we respectfully offer clean, fully furnished lakeview cabins while preserving the natural beauty of Moose Lake. Our family has enjoyed sharing this place with visitors for many years and we look forward to helping your family create memories that will last a lifetime.
