Just imagine THIS out your cabin’s front door: 1200 miles of shoreline, 365 islands, and 40,000 acres of stained fresh water! Welcome to Aspen Cabin and our Black Bay Camp Resort on Lake Vermilion where Walleye, Bass, Muskie, Northern, Perch and Panfish are plentiful. It’s a bit on the rustic side on purpose. We have 4 lake shore cabins, so if you have a large group, rent them all and vacation together! Aspen is our smallest cabin. Loons and beautiful lake views.
Guests enjoy the lakeside wood-fire sauna, a fully-equipped fish cleaning house and 3,000 feet of shoreline. The iconic loon call and sound of waves hitting the shore will last forever.
Kitchen comes with ample utensils, a range, microwave, full size refrigerator, coffee maker and table settings, etc.
Sleeping requirements: 1 BR upper bunk bed with lower trundle bed. 1 BR twin beds. Half bath. The central shower house (very close to cabin) has 2 immaculate cedar paneled 3/4 baths, each with a heater, toilet, sink and shower.
Refer to descriptions for Birch, Cedar, and Larch for additional resort features.
Aspen Cabin is just 65 feet from the lake's edge, and just down our driveway is the Main Lodge: 800 square feet of recreational space - chairs, big screen TV, microwave, refrigerator, 2 card/game tables and a large covered lakeside screen porch.
Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness borders the north shore of Lake Vermilion, so day trips into the Wilderness are a one-day pass and portage away!
Take a walk around the (85 acre) resort grounds and look for the elevated gazebo! How elevated? It’s 80 feet up and has stunning lake views - a great place to read a book and unwind. It has lights, power, ceiling fan and 2 comfortable rockers.
Take to the lake! Our cabins include the use of 1 fishing boat with oars, 2-person canoe, kayaks (3 available) and a peddle boat (all first come, first served). Nearby creeks are great for kayak exploring. Lake Vermilion is an absolute joy to boat and fish. Its bays and islands offers limitless fishing options even when the wind is blowing. Inquire about available rentals for fishing boat with motor and pontoon boat. Don't forget the net! There are reefs, sunken islands, drop-offs and plenty of shoreline for fishing: Walleye, Bass, Muskie, Northern, Perch, and Panfish all make for a great fish fry. Better yet, bring your own boat - the boat launch is to the west of the Main Lodge.
Take to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW)! Experience some of the wilderness lakes, rivers and canoe routes. Ask us for tips about Lake Vermilion and the Boundary Waters, that’s the advantage of booking directly with us.
