Things to do during "cabin time" in Willmar

If fishing is your fancy, rent a boat from one of the many rental places in Spicer, or Atwater, or any of the other nearby towns, and spend the days cruising the waters for bass, northern pike, sunfish, just to name a few. Paddlers can rent kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and those who want a little more thrill can ski, tube or even hydrobike.
Speaking of thrills, when you venture to Spicer, be sure to reserve an experience at Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center. A blend of education and adventure, the center offers a huge variety of programs ranging from challenge courses, water adventures, shooting sport programs, time travel adventures and a ton more. If you choose not schedule to book one of their programs or courses, the trails on their 400+ acre campus are open Sunday-Saturday while daylight lasts. Spicer holds plenty of other gems, such as houseboat tours, murder mystery dinners, Big Kahuna Fun Park and lively events such at the 4th of July Celebration or Rib fest.
Ready to explore a new town? New London is worth a look. New London offers wide variety of local crafts, culinary, and cultural experiences for all ages. Take in a theatrical or musical performance at New London Little Theater, or be amazed by the Little Crow water ski team! Need some fuel to keep going? Grab grub or coffee at the Middle Fork before you hike the beautiful Sibley park. Afterwards, treat yourself to old-fashioned candy at How Sweet It Is or cool down with ice cream from Deep Freeze. Prefer to cool down a different way? Then the riverfront taproom at Goat Ridge Brewing is calling your name.
Willmar lies to the south of Spicer and hold yet more fun! Let the kids run at Destination Playground, a 19,000 sq. foot playground.
